Red Lip Obsession!

Hey Lykkers! There’s a certain kind of energy red lipstick carries that no other shade really replaces. It’s not just color—it changes posture, mood, even how I speak to people.
Some reds feel soft and wearable, others feel like they walk into the room before you do.
Recently, I’ve been rotating between two red lipsticks that couldn’t be more different in personality. One leans smooth and effortless, the other leans structured and bold. And somehow, both feel necessary depending on the kind of day I’m stepping into.
1. Makeup by Mario SuperSatin Lipstick – Chelsea
Makeup by Mario SuperSatin Lipstick in Chelsea feels like the kind of red you don’t need to negotiate with yourself to wear. The texture is soft satin, but not slippery or overly shiny. It sits right in that in-between space where the lips look naturally enhanced rather than heavily made up. Chelsea itself has a refined red tone—balanced, not too warm and not too blue, which makes it surprisingly easy to pair with almost anything in my wardrobe.
2. Laura Mercier Caviar Smoothing Matte Lipstick – 520 Scarlet Velvet
Laura Mercier Caviar Smoothing Matte Lipstick in 520 Scarlet Velvet is a completely different story. This one doesn’t soften its presence—it defines it. The matte finish gives the red a velvety intensity that feels deeper and more sculpted. It’s the kind of lipstick that makes lips look more precise, more deliberate, almost like they’ve been outlined in confidence. Scarlet Velvet leans into a richer, more classic red. When I wear it, I don’t feel like I’m blending in at all.
What surprised me most is how clearly these two lipsticks divide my moods. Chelsea feels like control without effort. It’s the red I wear when I want to look composed without thinking too much about it. Scarlet Velvet, on the other hand, feels like intention. It’s sharper, more defined, and honestly a bit more fearless. Some days I want softness in structure. Other days I want structure without softness. Having both means I don’t have to force one version of myself every morning.
